Over the past several years, I have had the pleasure of collaborating with and leading the dedicated volunteers on the Economic Development Commission. Together we have brainstormed, planned, and executed new programs designed to bring attention to the businesses here in Smithfield.
Mission
The role of the Smithfield Economic Development Commission (EDC) is to support the many businesses that make their home in our vibrant community, as well as to support new business expansion and growth, consistent with the goals of our community.

Vision
We looked for a novel way to encourage visitors to explore all that Smithfield has to offer, including our many local businesses. The goal, enjoy nature with a little search a rescue for crystal apples were linked to a promotion for local business discounts.

Thanks to the Apple Trails event, we have drawn in visitors from surrounding towns and states on the hunt for crystal apples in the wild.
